Davis Counseling Services has partnered with Stop Soldier Suicide to help prevent and reduce suicide in the US. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) reports suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US with 48,183 American deaths by suicide and 1.70 Million suicide attempts in 2021.  On average, there are 132 suicides per day.  In 2021, suicide was the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-14.

Losing a loved one to suicide is tragic and takes an immense toll on our society.  Each person who dies by suicide leaves behind an estimated six or more “suicide survivors” – people who’ve lost someone they care about deeply and are left grieving and struggling to understand. Suicide is sudden, sometimes violent, and usually unexpected and leaves a wake of challenges which may include: coping with the negative stigma attached to suicide, recurring thoughts of the death scene, complicated bereavement, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Survivors may also need to deal with the police or handle press inquiries – all of which can add to the traumatic loss.

To help combat these challenges, which impact the lives of so many families, including my own family in 2018 with the death of my spouse Tiffany G. Davis, a portion of your counseling fee will be donated to Stop Soldier Suicide.

Stop Soldier Suicide is a veteran-led nonprofit that provides free, confidential, trauma-informed mental health and wellness care to veterans and service members in all 50 states. Their goal is to reduce the military suicide rate 40% by 2030. Veterans and service members are 57% more likely to die by suicide than their peers who have not served.
